THE VENICE CANALS - CALIFORNIA??

A lot of people have know idea that a canal system exists in Venice Beach, CA. Originally built in 1904 there was 16 miles of canals now there is only 4 x 6 blocks of these duck filled waterways. I am lucky enough to live a few blocks away and enjoy both the old and new architecture of this secret hideaway that was once home to the likes of Jim Morrison. To read more about the history of the Venice Canals click HERE

OMD - JENNIFER SIEGAL PREFAB-ULOUS

Jennifer Siegal is known for her work in creating the prefab home of the 21st century. If you have not read about her in DWELL magazine or seen her on CNN click here for more information. Six months back, i met with Jennifer and presented her with my interior design concept for her Pre-fab display structure Located on Abbott Kinney Blvd in Venice, CA. She loved my concept and the pictures showcase the end result.

I wanted to break away from the typical style that had been sceen in pre-fab homes and create an elegant yet relaxed environment. The first room was designed as a living/dining area and the second room as an office.

THE PACIFIC DESIGN CENTER - "LUXE LIFE" EVENT

The Pacific Design Center is the West Coast's leading resource for traditional and Contemporary indoor and outdoor furnishings. Last night the PDC and House&Garden Magazine held their annual outdoor living event "LUXE LIFE" which showcases vignettes from outdoor showrooms. The event is held outside by the pond. Lovely!

The highlight of the evening was a fabulous fashion Show. Exterior designer Karla Stevens owner of Patio Culture and in a former life clothing designer for the hit TV show The O.C. designed outfits made from outdoor fabrics, also showcased were my
JORDAN CAPPELLA COLLECTION handbags manufactured from outdoor fabrics.

The event was amazing, champagne flowed all night, the PDC flew in DJ NIGEL direct from London (Elton John's Oscar party DJ) and Wolfgang Puck catered.

Enjoy the pictures - the first shot is Karla Steven's and myself.

Vanessa De Vargas Mixes it up!

Energetic and Ingenious are just two words that capture the essence of who Vanessa De Vargas is. For those of you who may not be familiar with this west side wonder September will mark the one year anniversary of Turquoise her chic high-end mid century furniture boutique located on trendy Abbott Kinney Blvd in Venice, CA. Her talents don't stop there she also is an incredible Interior designer, Blogger and contributing editor for Apartment Therapy

The images showcased today mark a change in Vanessa's style, for her latest interior design project she adopted more of a whimsical feel for her client, a Record Executive at Suretone Records whose office is located in Santa Monica.

I asked Vanessa to give an overview of her project:

My client handles many high profile rock and pop artists and since she spends so much time at the office I created a place that felt like a “home” office. We decorated the space with floor to ceiling linen drapes, a custom white lacquered Louis style desk. I had custom floating Lucite shelves designed by Jordan Cappella Collection that are set against gold and white wallpaper. The office included tons of storage boxes and bins for her clients CD and demo reels. We had the walls painted in a soft robins egg blue and accented the office with teal and red. Moroccan and Asian influences. The Chesterfield tufted sofa was upholstered down the center with a red and white floral fabric panel.

The space looks fantastic.

Enjoy,

Spring 2007 InStyle Home Magazine

Dear Friends,

Welcome to my new blog.

I will be updating this once a week to keep you informed of what I am working on and experiencing in the design world.

The above story/image is on Patio Culture and pictured is one of two JORDAN CAPPELLA COLLECTION refurbished 60's vintage cane chairs that can be placed together to create a love seat. When I came across the chairs they had a rundown natural cane finish. Gross! They look so fresh and clean with the white finish.

I hope you enjoy.

Thanks.
