The Santa Monica Red Cross will hold its biggest fundraiser of the year, the Red Tie Affair gala, on April 9, 2011, at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica.
The one and only actress and comedienne Betty White will be the 2011 recipient of the National American Red Cross “Crystal Cross Award” for her outstanding contributions to animal welfare efforts. She is well-known for her warm heart, and loving and generous dedication to animals. Through her career Betty has been an inspiration to many people, including all of us at the Red Cross, and we are genuinely thrilled to honor her with this prestigious Red Cross award.
Josh Duhamel, Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet member, star of the “Transformers Trilogy” and hit movie “Life as We Know It”, will also be honored with a “Crystal Cross Award” for humanitarianism. Duhamel helped raise funds for Red Cross Haiti Relief by leading a “Youth Run for Haiti” on Santa Monica Beach. The run enabled more than three thousand compassionate young people to become involved in helping the citizens of Haiti through their fundraising efforts. Recently, Duhamel also helped raise funds for Red Cross Japan Relief by leading a “Youth Run for Japan”.
So proud to be a part of this.
